April 2, 201511 yr Are they related if not what is going on I'm new to VVT and have no clue what the deal is. Problem start today I have an 06 legacy 2.5I auto with 150k I can not rev past 4,000 RPM in gear I need help as in drive a lot on the highway any help would be great thanks P.S. timing was done at 100k
April 3, 201511 yr Timing belt was replaced at 100k? What about the idlers and the tensioner? Did you clear the codes to see if they come back?
April 3, 201511 yr I've had a bad battery set those codes and throw my WRX into limp mode. reset and see if/how quickly the codes come back. Also, make darn certain your engine oil system is in top shape. Double check battery and charging system.
April 3, 201511 yr Author I cleared the code and Took her for a 50 mile ride I got on the high way and opened her up and it sounded like the valves fluttered at 4,500 rpm and the code came back and went in to limp as for the timing it looks all about right for the mileage
April 6, 201510 yr Valve flutter? Not gonna happen on these. Timing is jumped or the pressure control solenoids or the oil ports for the AVCS are plugged up and the camshaft actuators can't adjust properly. Pull the timing covers and double check timing.
