Switch to Left of Steering Wheel

Featured Replies

I have a button wired in by the po and it was poorly done has come unglued, yes he used glue to secure it. Before I removed the fog lights it was used to turn them on, a positive went to the battery, another wire plugged grouped into a fuse plugged into the pannel, and a ground. Since buying I have pulled the fog lights, removed the positive lead from the battery and just left the switch hanging.

I would like to remove it and replace it with something more functional as I have a switch that will fit in the hole but would like to use it for its original purpose.

There is also a removable piece of plastic just to the right under the wheel that says ABS on the backside and seems like a space that might hold a button. Was ABS an option on these cars? Was a switch or relay an option for it here? What was supposed to be here? If its just an optional switch place I'll replace it with new secondary lights I have!

Can take pictures if nobody understands what I'm asking.

Picture of where you mean might help, these cars never came out with ABS, that's just referring to the kind of plastic it is made from.

Cheers, Tom

Yes, ABS means the Kind of Plastic that was used then, ABS Plastics can last forever on a Car, it is Shame the Pollution Prevention Regulations, require that cars are made with Biodegradable plastics, that is the reason why many wirings' plugs disintegrate and does all kind of wrong things to the cars nowadays...

The space about he is writing about, is the one used for the Manual Choke Lever, on the 1.3L (EA65) and 1.6L (EA71) Loyales, yes, I placed the Rocker switch for the Halogens on my "BumbleBeast" in that mere place.

Kind Regards.

So Subaru didn't swap the choke & mirror controls over?

Cos the manual choke lever (on our '85 EA82s) were on the left side also, then a rear wiper switch.

I know the steering columns are identical as our key is on the right side (makes it easier to get the key out of the ignition if you've locked them in the car ;) ), mostly everything else seems reversed.

Thanks for the info!

I'm actually happy the po's shitty switch broke off because I have ones that should fit right in the hole that I found at work. Once I get my front bumper straight again I'm going to install some lights I picked up at work.
