Build a Loyale brat

Featured Replies

I plan to build a Brat wannabee out of my 1993 Loyale wagon. The plan is to cut the roof off the back half  and the top off the hatch in the back and weld a second hatch in place to make the rear wall and back window. It will look hopefully like this when done. My Question is, has anyone here done this and what problems may I incur.

If you take your time and measure twice, or even 4 times and cut once... you should be fine.... just be patient and don't cook through the metal when welding it back together.  Make sure to thoroughly check for wiring/hoses before cutting (for example for the dome light, rear wiper washer, etc)

Make it like a baja with a small bed and a crew cab. It will be much easier and cooler IMO. There is a thread on here about hatch brats and wagon brats.

I would make sure to build something underneath to hold the car together, I made a glorified go kart for messing around on my property out a 91 loyale wagon and after we cut the roof off the whole car would flex and put a lot of strain on the drive shaft.

That's been done a few times in the past. When I used to get on here a long time ago I remember seeing one or two of those. West coast, where else? Lol
