June 5, 201510 yr Just curious for those of you who have had to get a drive shaft extended from doing a trans conversion, how much did it cost you? In NC when I had this done it was around $100-$150, but now that I am in SoCal its about $100 more. Is that about right for this area?
June 15, 201510 yr Shortening driveshafts is cheap, but lengthening them is expensive because it requires all new longer tube, plus the labor of cutting and welding both ends.
June 15, 201510 yr Author I ended up getting a total custom unit with Spicer 1410 U joints. Cost about $430, but they say it will never break. I also have the option to service the u joints now.
June 15, 201510 yr Yea, and when I had it done, they had to mill the flanges down to accept standard diameter tube (still cheaper than getting metric tube). It was $150ish 8 years ago or so.
October 6, 201510 yr My 3 inch Lift + 5 speed required a longer driveshaft. I used a 94 legacy auto front shaft and Loyale back shaft. Gave me around 55 inches and I custom made a center bearing bracket.Works great and very little angles
