any interest im thinking mid september

I'm not gonna say it's impossible.  I was one of the original guys who went there and tackled it with Subarus.  I'm gonna say that you had better show up good and prepared.  

 

You'd better bring a bucket of stub axles.  You will need a welder.   Find a buddy with a Toyota to carry all your spare stuff, cuz it will weigh down your Subaru too much.

 

Go watch videos of the Rubicon and get to know just what the trails look like.  They are gnarlier than you might think if you haven't been there.       

After watch the videos from the first subacon and looking at how far things have come,all the spare parts might not necessarily be needed.A run of the mill 4" lifted ea82 with 27" tires might still have the same problems but some of the other various creations on the board might be up to it.From the videos, your brat did reasonably well until you had to make up for the lack of low end torque with momentum.The original unhatched did very good just crawling along, but its axles failed when they were under alot of load-either wheels binding up or all of the vehicles weight shifting over one corner.The weeble-wobble was a disaster with its "rubber band" power delivery from the automatic.

 

In my mind a EJ swapped vehicle with 27-29" tires would be about the minimum and it might even be do-able because the EJ torque would help while not completely over whelming the axles like with a Tcase. However, I wasn't there and haven't seen the trails up close and in person.

rumors have it that you could get a rental car through there right now im sure thats not completely true but i have a big winch

We all know even FWD rental cars are the fastest,most durable, offroad machines ever devised by mankind.Whats your point.

Like I said.  Look at some videos and see what you're up against.   Your rental had better be a Rubicon.   Your overloaded ea82 wagon is gonna have problems.   

If the rubicon has stock axles i would say no since they turn into smiley faces offroad or they break the tubes. A friend of mine builds axles for a living and that"s all he sees on jeeps that are stock besides being lifted, bigger tires, and being regeared sometimes.

the county has been in there they leveled alot of the hard spots my freinds went a wile back sead it was like driving down a dirt road with a few rocks here and there it is a county road after all

Then it should be pretty easy for you.  Film it.

i have to push my trip back a few weeks between buying a house and getting drug in to a job kicking and screeming im a busy boy this week i get to spend in johnson valley at my new house/shop and next week i get to go work in tahoe on the plus side i did pick up a f250 turdbo diesel for a tow / work rig and i got my oil leaks stoped i couldent get the oil presure to come up but atleast its not knocking anymore and i get a place in tahoe to park my tow rig and my broken junk if need be and my new car hauler trailer is almost done so hopefully i get to make the run in a few weeks before the snow hots heavy
