I am swapping engines (169k engine developed rod knock, putting in 105k engine). While dealing with one thing or another, I forget what, I heard a clatter. By the time I found the source I could not remember what precipitated the noise. Here is what I found on the ground. Small L-shaped bit of black metal with holes at each end, some sort of bracket, and a spring. If anything else fell off I haven't seen it yet. 

Its a 2005 Subaru Legacy Outback, 2.5 SOHC.

I'm not completely sure but it sort of looks like it might resemble a radiator mount though 2005 is far too new for my fleet to have seen one haha.

You were all so close. The spring is still a mystery but the bracket is a wiring harness bracket. It goes on the  rear of the engine holding the main wiring harness. 2005 2.5 Legacy Outback.
