T case broken? - 87 brat. And some engine woes as well.

So.. This has been an issue for a while, i thought replacing the u joints would fix it, not the case. No matter what, when I go into FWD my car just starts rattling and shaking like something is skipping over gears. ANyone ever had this happen? It seemed to be completely out of the blue.

The engine has had this problem since I bought it, when I floor it from idle it will almost die, then come back to life. If in gear it sometimes will actually die. I have replaced plugs, wires, carb and both fuel filters. Any ideas?

Could your front hub splines be stripped? Is your axle nuts torqued down properly?

you say FWD - you mean FRont wheel drive or four wheel drive ?

so , it does it only in front wheel drive, but if you select four wheel drive it behaves fine ?

Turned out the problem was a non reman axle. I think the bearing cage fell apart because the cup spins, but not the axle, and creates a very bad grinding noise. When I went into 4wd I think the push from the welded rear diff made it so the front right wasn't engaged much. It still happened in 4wd but much more rare.
