96 legacy rear assembly

Featured Replies

Hello everyone i was wondering if anyone knew if the rear assembly from 96 legacy would fit my 97 impreza obs. The crossmember is rotted out on the corner of the drivers side where it bolts into the car otherwise this car has barely any rust.

thanks,

Opposed forces doesn't list it in their usage info as the same. So probably not.

You can do search in car-part.com to see what choices it gives, to double check.

O.

There are some minor differences but the major parts all attach in the same places. The only real difference between impreza and legacy is the length. Other than that, pretty much all of the mechanical and suspension parts can be swapped between the two.

Aren't the rear sway bars different? He should reuse the Impreza bar, right? And it won't interfere with the Legacy crossmember?

Sway bars are different, but the difference is because of the floor under the trunk where the spare goes. On the legacy there's a hump (that sticks down) under the spare tire that isn't there on the Impreza. You can run either sway bar on the Impreza with no problems.

If the legacy rear bar is larger diameter it will decrease body roll in the back of that wagon and help improve handling.
