Outback Trans on a forester

Featured Replies

I have a 2003 Outback with a good transmission (smashed front end) and I am looking to get a 2002 Forester with blown Trans (both automatic ) will they fit? Anybody?

Thanks

Masher

Possible to check part number on each tranny to see if they are the same?? If not the same, still might interchange.

Contact a japanese  engine takeout place, they sell transmissions also. I seem to recall a big price difference between an outback and a forester. Its been awhile so I could be mistaken, or could be a year group issue.

if both cars have an ej25, no ez30, the trans will swap and run fine.

the only possible difference is the speedo gears.

but if the stock tire size for both cars are the same

then the speedo gears will not be an issue.

and even if the tire sizes are different,

the difference is going to be relatively small.

in the 90s the tires were the same.

swap away.

x2. Forester and outbacks both came with the 4.44 final drive. I did the reverse and put an 02 forester trans in my wifes old 2000 outback a few years back. Same trans
