ej20G 1994 IAC code 24 , been 2 week looking into it !

Featured Replies

Hey, ive been reading quite a while on this forum, you seems to know what you are doing.

Allright, i am still hunting my iac trouble, for 2 weeks now

Wont idle at all seems to be running on 3 cylinder like it should do when code 24 show up.

The car only give code 24.

Ej20g 1994 jdm

Rob tune

Coil on plug

Fuel pressure OK

Spark plug 2000km

Timing belt new 1 month

Fuel filter 3000km

Now, without the iac solenoid conected, i am getting ground 12v ground to the plug

When i connect it, i am getting the 12v on the 3 wires

At first, i was getting 12v 12v 1v

But by the week, i am now stuck with 12v everywhere

Ive tested all ground wire at the ecu and they looked fine.

Ive tried running separe wire directly from the ecu to the iac, same thing happening

Tried another main relay

Ive tried 2 other iac solenoid , they tested both 9ohm

And my old tested 9ohm too

Ive tried 2 know good maf

Tps is working fine, idle switch too. Ive tried another witch was working before

I looked for ohm between ground and ecu ground and i do get 5ohm but the manual tell me 10 max.

Ive tried back probing all ecu ground to the body to see if maybe i had a bad ground that my brand new snap on multimeter could not tell me without succes.

One thing i noticed !!!

While working today ive put the ground from my 12v led lamp to the ground to ecu that plug on the intake nornally ( now on body ) while it was not on the car but key on. The led lighted up but looked like would have 3volt on an hallogen bulb.

Tried stock ecu, same story

I just redone the whole grounding system with fresh wire and by the good way

When i look At the wiring in the diagnostic book, the white and the black wire are going directly to the ecu And the 12v middle wire is coming from the ignition relay

I did not try another valve body thought, but last time i cleaned it was this summer. Spin freely

Ive tried another body yesterday same result

I have cut each wire of the iac near the plug, when i disconect only the black wire, and touching the other end really fast, the car start to idle normaly and the code goes away, as soon i leave the wire togetter, it start to idle rought again

Im out of idea someone need to

Give me some input on this ! Thanks

Hi,

Welcome to the USMB.

Is this a '94 WRX you imported to Canada?

I'd also go Search on here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/

The EJ22T used in the '91-'94 Legacy Turbo uses a very similar setup as your EJ20G..and 99% of the same wiring.

and

Go look on NASIOC.com  and do a general search.

The IAC you have is also common/similar to all the '92-'98/'99 Subarus.

Sorry, I don't know what the issue is.

Still havent found the trouble yet.

When i generate a load on the signal wire it give me 6v on the white wire and 7v on the black wire witch suggest that the ecu is working corectly?

Bump

You stated that you now have 12 volts on all 3 wires. That would mean that the ECU isn't making any connection to ground on the two wires. In post 6 you stated that you put a load on the signal wire and saw a slight difference in voltage. I'm not sure what you mean by signal wire. Are you taking about the 12 volt center wire?
