Atf temp light

Featured Replies

I have a 98 Forester with 175k on it. I just pulled the motor and replaced the blown head gasket. Now it's back together and as soon as I started it the atf temp light started flashing and won't stop. There is no variance in the flashing, its just constant. Any clue?

Thanks

possible broken ATF pump. If the TC slipped forward, then, if you use the bolts to pull the case up the last 1/2 inch or so, the pump can be cracked.

No, the motor went right in within 1/8" before I used bolts

Any codes?

Pull the dipstick and see if it stops.

Speedometer working?

Here's a stupid thought, when I pulled the radiator not once but twice, I lost about a quart of tranny fluid total. I forgot to add some before starting it. Would that possibly throw a code

could be - check ATF level when warm while idling(good idea to run it thru the gears with foot on brake first)  - if not idling, it will show high.

I pulled the pan yesterday and found a single blue wire broke. I was able to but splice it and all is good now.

Thanks
