ej22 wiring harness

Featured Replies

So I have a 95 phase 1 ej22 out of a 95 legacy. I need an ECU and wiring harness still. And a u pull near me has a 95 impreza with ej22. Could I pull that wiring harness and make it work with the ej22 I have from the legacy? And help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

I ASSume this is a donor for an EJ swap? As the wiring harnesses are pretty different between the platforms. But for a swap, that would work just fine. Maybe someone else will chime in (or you can verify for yourself) there are some variation through the '90s of cars that do and do not have EGR systems. If your ECU is looking for it, and the engine doesn't have provisions for it, you will probably have a check engine light always on, but the car will run fine.

Just be aware, that the '95 2.2 ECU/body harness are unique to that year and engine, and are a little hard to find information for. Just something to be aware of as you're doing this project. The '96-'99 setup is preferable, but I wouldn't pay much more for it.

Since i dont have space space for a donor/parts car. i bought an ej22 thats almost all there just needs a rebuild. But while i am doing that I found a 95 impreza 2.2 at a junk yard. and the motor i baught was out of a legacy. so they are the same year, just out of different cars. So i am curious if i can snag that one out of the impreza, and it will work with the ej out of a legacy of the same year.

I will continue to ASSume that this would all be used in an EJ swap into something else. From an engine control standpoint, yes, it will be fine. But the rest of the bulkhead harness between a Legacy and Impreza are very different.

I just noticed your location. I would DEFINITELY drive down to UPull Rosemount, they have 4 '96-'99 Donor cars that probably have 2.2s.

I would venture to say it'll work fine as long as you get the ECU from the Impreza.

The sensors and whatnot are going to be compatible and if not all you'd have to do is snag a sensor or two and swap them.

It'll work i have and ej22 from a 95 legacy lsi auto into a tube frame buggy and while it works it was the worst year to pick because the years before and after the ecu pinouts are different. It was kinda a PITA but don't get me wrong everything will work fine it just takes some time to find the diagrams and info. it was worth it but now were looking into putting in an ej205  B)

I have the same thing sand rail with 1995 Legacy 2.2 at 3500 rpm it goes into stutter or limp and more the load the sooner it comes in. Other than that it idle good and run OK. Is there anyway to circumvent the limp modes. I have lots of prints let me know I'll send them sbornhorst1@comcast.net

Thank you
