March 2, 201610 yr Ok, never had this happen before. I first thought the intake gasket was leaking.... But no! It is leaking right where casting circle is (passenger side)
March 2, 201610 yr Author I wish that could good picture the leak, but my intake is on the car. Used a spare to show location. I found my telescoping mirror and now see, what looks like stress fracture from the circle to front of intake. Is this common? Dont, think I have seen a post about it. March 2, 201610 yr I have been reading through all kinds of posts on here and have found zero intake failures. What's leaking? Coolant? Vacuum? Exhaust?
March 2, 201610 yr Upon closer inspection is that the bottom of your intake? If so there's no way that's the source of the what appears to be coolant residue.
March 2, 201610 yr I haven't experienced or heard of an intake manifold cracking. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but I'd guess it's rare.

March 2, 201610 yr There is a 1/4" bypass hose that runs from your intake to thermostat housing. Check that for leaks. Sometimes, the hose will only leak when the coolant is up to boiling temp ... then steam will spray out of the damaged part of the hose. And 1/4" is the ID.
March 3, 201610 yr As you can see, hopefully, the casting is not to thin, not saying it couldn't happen, if you can put a sharp piece of steal through it then yes, that's were it's coming from.
March 6, 201610 yr Author Well.. I'm dumb. I hate to admit it, but I over looked something. The upper rad hose clamp was not tight and coolant was streaming along the thermostat and under the intake. Always tell others the think small and I failed to follow my own advise. ????
March 6, 201610 yr another vernier that is useless without battery - unless you are happy with rough centimetre figures I recently paid good money at a tool shop for similar and not amused to find must read the screen
