? XT6 ER27 exhaust ports on head ?

Featured Replies

Just realised seeing an exhaust pipe for XT6 each bank has two ports for three pots

I am guessing one port does two pots, the other just one pot.

Are the ports the same size whether they dump one or two pots or is the single a smaller diameter in the head ?

I rate this question about same level of curiosity as to whether the middle slugs pin is removed via the front or rear access plug hole and how long are the c clip plier noses to do such ??

Yep, 2 cylinders are siamesed, just like the EA82. The second port is the same size.

I've seen ez30 with 3 ports per head, i do believe you could get them either way, like you could get a 2.2 with one or 2 ports. the er27 tho are all the same and stupid.... i hate siamised ports. there were some twin port ea82's made and i think if you really wanted to you could make a 3 port er-27 head, but at the same time you'd have more time and money into it then just swapping a eg33 or ez30/36, or a ej20g or ej257... ect.

Yep, first gen EZs (2000-2004) were siamesed all into one port, as are some mid '00s california EJ25s. The second gen ones ('05+, commonly and incorrectly called EZ30R) are 3 port.

yes - those are model/year based distinctions - rather than "get them either way" in the sense that they're random.

like chux said EZ30 3 port heads are 2005+. before that they're all single port, which i mentioned because the OP seemed interested in H6's with different head/exhaust port counts.

1995 and earlier EJ22 is dual port

1996+ EJ22 is single port.

sorry didnt mean it to sound random. good to know the year of change, does that also correspond with the hp increase and switch to variable valve timing? IIRC that was 05 also.
