The first one is the diagnostic plug and you do nothing with it just leave it as is do not remove. The other two pictures are to dark to make out what it is. If you PM me with an email address I think I have a copy of GD's write up.

Thank you, the write up i have says the dealer test plug can go, and part of the problem i ran into was the car i sourced from was auto digi dash and c/c, and my write up is for one from a standard so he didnt cover those plugs, ive mad some progress since last night, but still want to see gds write up, his write ups make sense to me

This is wwhere im at, guessing i leave the line end test plug since its not in the way.

I left mine in place so that I can plug in my Snap On scanner for diagnostics. Makes it much easier to track problems.

Very nice, youre referring to the line end test plug? Or the othe dealer plug that i already pulled? I may re-solder that thing back on. So i read on a thread here something about on the a/t harness that there is a wire thats grounded, if you use a manual trans ecu this grounded wire makes it think its an auto, i have a/t harness and ecu, my question is if i cut the wire will it make the ecu think its a manual now or are the two ecus completely different, ill try to look for the thread so i can get the pin number for that wire, if not how has everyone gone about fooling the inhibitor and park switches? Thanks!

I don't know about the ecu because I used it auto to auto so just had to wire for relays. The plug for using a scanner is the one you showed in the first picture above.

Gotcha, i mustve misunderstood, i thought in gds write up it said, "this just goes to a dealer test plug so it can be removed" ill be soldering that back in i guess

It isn't all that great to keep. If you have already removed it no problem. You can get most of the same information from the ECM itself but it is easier to read with a scanner.

Cool, thanks, now just some final stuff, is there a way to kinda dry test the ecu harness and mani before i try installing in case i need to replace anything on the mani?

Not really. Most of us just lay the harness out, install the spfi (or in my case the whole engine ), hook everything up temporarily and try to get it started before tucking in all the wiring.

oh , spoob , may I get a copy of that write up Bill?

Cheers

If you can't get it from 2.7 Turbo send me a PM with your email and I will send one.

Thanks guys for all your help, going to pull a ecu and harness from a loyale that just hit, its standard, so i have an extra black ecu and harness for this swap, both automatic that id probably let go real cheap...

Can any of you guys get me a pinout of the ecu in a 90-92 loyale? Gds swap has the like 85/88 gl stuff but i guess 92 loyale would be different, and im not finding it

If I am not mistaken the pin out is pretty much the same for all of them except the turbo.  I do have one for an '89 I could send you if you want.

  • Author

Ok, cool, i thought it might be different, cause ive read 86-87,88-89,90-92,& 93-94 are all different, and dont need to screw this up again

There are some differences in things like the plug for the distributor or engine bay plug shapes but I think the ECU plugs are all the same.

I see, just the connectors, well i took allthe plugs on the manifold side, and pulled all the sensors and stuff so i have spares

Thanks a lot for all of this guys, youve been a huge help. Can i get pictures of the relay boxes you guys used? Like how you did the wiring to them and stuff? I pulled one out an 84 bmw, and cant see how its supposed to work in gds pics
