July 19, 20169 yr Hey all. I pulled the fuel door off my hatch with plans to put it on my BRAT, but the opening/ closing mechanism is busted. Is there just a spring missing or is the actual plastic housing broken? I can't tell as I've never seen a functioning one before. Anyone got any pics of their working fuel door in this style? Thanks! July 20, 20169 yr That's completely broken, the end is supposed to be capped off with a little sliding latch piece. I have a couple non broken ones that I've coaxed back into function with penetrating oil and white lithium grease. I'll see about snapping a couple pics for you when I get back into my building.

July 21, 20169 yr If you're going to WCSS, I can bring a lock that fits into the same space as that mechanism in question. Simple R&R. Comes with a key..I can even help you install it, if need be.

July 21, 20169 yr I just went to Lowes and got one of their mail box locks & put in place of the turning knob, works fine.

July 30, 20169 yr Mine is the flush fitting door with the turn knob. Not sure how the push button would do.

August 2, 20169 yr Author That will make it original. The current fuel door is original. I like the look of the bulky chrome door. Probably gives you +5hp too.
