Hey I'm looking to install a electric turbo/intake blower into my  85 GL. I want to have it hooked up to a manual switch so i can turn it on when i need a lil more boost, for say on the highway. In theory it should work. I just want to know if it is a good idea or not to do this. If it is ok, then what all would i need for an install?

Total waste of money.

Have a friend who tried this on his Lancer...lots of problems. Haven't seen him in a long time so have a feeling he blew up the car.

Engine = 200 CFM's.

Large compressor = 20 CFM's

 

You'll have to run 220 volt electric service in your Subaru and strap 10 of those compressors to your car.

That's an illustration, nothing more. What you're missing is the difference bewteen a fan and a compressor - they are not even remotely close to the same thing. 

 

It'll help in the long run to learn a little bit about ICE's, the difference between fans and compressors, and how and why FI works.  It's basic physics and no cheap trick, part, or technique is going to change that. 

A friend of mine strapped a leave blower up to his intake on an 87 toyota. Worked pretty well, with some other mods.

Look up the roadkill episode of this on youtube. They did it and dyno tested it. Waste of time.
