October 21, 20169 yr Searching a Subaru users group in Australia, I came across the following "fix" replacement part that they use on the "Brumby: Here's a link to the site: http://www.peelinstruments.com.au/index.html & here are the details of the part: CP30 Safety Switch This device is designed to turn off power to the Gas System when the engine stalls/turns off. Wiring- GND/NEG - Ground/Earth GAS+POS12V – Input 12 Volt power from Gas side of switch Lock Off+Pos Gas – Output 12V power to Gas Lock Off. NEG COIL - TachometricOutput Pulse/ Neg. Side of Coil. Any advice is much appreciated!~ Bratmobile
October 23, 20169 yr If you wanted to save some money look into these. They might even be available locally. http://www.ebay.com/itm/370504311314?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/272295635804?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Subaru wasnt the only one to use such gizmos. I have diagrams for both and have used the VW unit. I have a volvo relay waiting in a box for experimentation, just havent needed it yet. I recomend wiring in a secondary relay to handle the pump, I have found that aftermarket universal pumps like to cook the transisors in the FPCU. Not sure why, they usually have an even lower amp draw than the factory pumps.
August 27, 20178 yr also a GM oil pressure sending unit with 3 pins can be used. 1 pin operates the stock "oil" light the other pins are a pass through switch that closes when oil pressure present. run the Fuel pump + through that switch. might require adapter and or "T" fitting to install on an EA81. But works well on EA82 oil pumps in the upper, smaller port where the factory oil light switch would go.
August 27, 20178 yr +1 to both G & Scout. Both ways will net you what you want. G's is easier to install, but Scout's is a more 'direct' replacement four the FPCU. Depends on your needs and skills.
August 28, 20178 yr I am buying a revolution electronics fuel pump control unit. $70 and its definitely safer. Ran one in an old kit car. Has a relay for pump, shuts off when coil shuts off. Also can be used with a ford inertia switch so it kills fuel if involved in an accident that doesn't kill the engine. Pricey yes, but a neck of a lot better than fuel dumping everywhere and being a fire cause
