Ea82 radiator install, unused ports.

Featured Replies

Quick question during a radiator install. I assume they are ports for the transmission or something.

These two shiny silver ports have no home on my car, should I cap them? If so, what's the best way to go about it? Remove them and screw in a plug or just plug them with the silver pipe connected?

I'm driving an ea82 non turbo 5sp dr wagon, weberized, no ac and manual steering.

Those 2 tubes are for the automatic transmission cooler. I'd just put rubber caps on them. I've seen them in hardware stores.

Perfect! That's what I was assuming. Thanks a ton Dave.

Yep, aftermarket companies don't bother making a separate part without the trans cooler. They usually come capped. It's a sealed cooler, so it doesn't "need" to be capped, but it's certainly a good idea to keep crap out of there. Lots of ways to get caps, Dorman makes a multi-pack of different sized caps that can usually be had in the "Help" section of most auto parts stores for a few bucks.
