tire size for 84 wagon or 86 Brat with puget 15 steelies

Featured Replies

Hi,

What would be a good tire size for 15 inch pugeot steelies? Max size without cutting?

This would be on a NON-lifted 86 Brat or 84 NON-lifted wagon.

What is a good type of tire for rolling on beach sand?

Thank you,

Mike

195/55r15 is almost the same as stock.

No idea how they would handle sand, though.

When I lived near the beach in SoCal I tried the stock 185/70R13s on the sand without airdown and they were satisfactory for level driving. My guess is that those 15s would be better as they would offer more ground clearance.

I run 195/70/14 on my EA81 hatch, no lift, no rubbing. I air down to 16psi, and have yet to get stuck.

A 195/60/15 is about a half inch less in diameter, same width (compare here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=195-60r15-195-70r14) I have those on my EA82 wagon, but have never had it on the beach. I can only assume it would perform similarly, even with a slightly shorter sidewall.
