February 17, 20179 yr 195/55r15 is almost the same as stock. No idea how they would handle sand, though.
February 17, 20179 yr When I lived near the beach in SoCal I tried the stock 185/70R13s on the sand without airdown and they were satisfactory for level driving. My guess is that those 15s would be better as they would offer more ground clearance.
February 18, 20179 yr I run 195/70/14 on my EA81 hatch, no lift, no rubbing. I air down to 16psi, and have yet to get stuck. A 195/60/15 is about a half inch less in diameter, same width (compare here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=195-60r15-195-70r14) I have those on my EA82 wagon, but have never had it on the beach. I can only assume it would perform similarly, even with a slightly shorter sidewall. Dan
