May 23, 20178 yr So i have a 1998 Subaru conversion from gears to an forester version 6 automatic.I bought the car that way and it ran very well for 3 yrs.changed the head and block last weekend, used the same transmission -thought the converter did give a little problem to go in - the head ofthe shaft had widened a bit.anyways .. it's all fixed in, started ,, gone for a test run & the gear is stuck in 3.it's not changing. and the power light keeps blinking.need some help !
May 23, 20178 yr double check wiring harnesses? did you dent the transmission pan? wonder if the converter was not fully seated - from what I have read, it can be very tricky and if you used the bolts to force the engine/trans together in the last 1/4" or so - you probably cracked the pump. But, I don't think the car would move at all so, less likely. Edited May 23, 20178 yr by 1 Lucky Texan
May 24, 20178 yr Author re-checked all the wiring. the car can be driven, but not very fast since it has practically no power at all. spoke to a lot of subaru techs and they all say that it sounds like the speed sensor. will check that out today and let you know. what's your theory though ? Can it be the output speed sensor ?
May 24, 20178 yr ^^^ hmmmm....maybe an O2 sensor wire was broken? wonder about the blinking light to.
