2016 Forester: Where do I find the airbag module?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Where can I find the airbag module on a 2016 Forester? Any tips on getting to it or disconnecting it?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

air bags are there for your/your passengers protection.

Why on earth would you want to disable them?

In older models the module doesn't need replaced in an accident, have you verified that it needs replaced?

in previous models there were located underneath the stereo system, in front of the parking/shift level.

ebay and online subaru dealers have exploded view diagrams that often show part locations.  check there or stop into a subaru dealer, ask for a new control module and see if the computer shows where it's located.

if it's under the stereo as previous models - google image search people swapping stereo's and you might find pictures of a center console removed and see it in those.

Hello all,

I bought a 2016 Forester at an insurance auction. Rollover accident. Moderate body damage all over. No airbags deployed but the passenger seat belt pretensioner went off. Upon information and belief, I will need to replace the seatbelt unit and have the airbag module reset.

Any other advice on dealing with this is welcome. It's a 2016 with 10k miles on it and I only have $5k in it, so I'm OK no matter what happens.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Jeff
