August 16, 20178 yr OK. Project 2009 and project 2006 or was it 2005 are now underway in joint effort. I may be preempting but can't select gears even though not finished piecing together. The box is in my 89 Brumby behind an ea82 mongrel, not all is tightened up, clutch cable still not either but find cannot select gears in no run state. Box came sans selectors so used the 5 speed buts of dual range ea82 shifters and had TT em selecting on the ground ...well at least before I stripped box to swap the 23 splines in. The shifters rear support bush bolts to floor a little further back from where the dual range ea82 box shifter mount did. Not sure if needs to be mounted bit lower than floor level. Stay rod also not connected during panic session and car on stands. Might be all fine when stitched up, but if anyone done this love to hear your tips n tricks. Jono
August 17, 20178 yr I am trying to understand what you are asking so I can help. So, the trans no longer shifts since you opened it up to swap the stubs?
August 17, 20178 yr Author Exactly! You did good job of understanding. I have isolated everything and still no go so box is coming out
August 18, 20178 yr my guess is that you didn't get teh selector rod "finger" engaged in the slotted ends of the 3 shift fork rods. Or something to check before dismantling the box, is perhaps an off chance you forgot the crush washer on the reverse or nuetral switches? that would jam the switch into the selector rods' notches and hold it from sliding fore/aft. August 18, 20178 yr Author Box is out. On the shelf for now as won't be able to get it past road worthy without sway bar. Current sway bar and awd box do not work together. Good trial run with oil in it as see one switch developed a drip overnight. I will try removing all those bits that could impact on it before pulling down again. I had to remove the bolt deep in some part as I did not have skill to juggle things apart. Likely do same again. Thanks Gloyale
August 18, 20178 yr If it's assembled correctly, you can just shift it through all the gears right there on the bench with a pair of channel locks on the shift rod. If it won't shift on the bench, something is wrong inside.
August 19, 20178 yr Author That's it won't shift on the bench either. A lot if time passed since I bought it, first clean, strip and reassemble. I will come back when I open it up again. Ta
