In Need of Seat Belts

Featured Replies

My front seat belts have decided to stop locking, any idea where to get replacements? The dealer can no longer get them, rockauto doesn't have any listed, and my local auto parts shops can't get them either. I don't trust the cheap ones on amazon.

Ideas?

Silly me! It's a 1987 GL wagon 4wd. Not sure about newer fitting in, I was hoping somebody here might know?

i had an issue on my 1989 wagon seatbelt not clicking in anymore a few years ago, went to the junkyard and got a pair of 91 Loyale seatbelts, (just the end part with the button), turns out they were not the same! just had to get the grinder and make a notch on it, i think the metal part of the seatbelt change shape over the years, when and by how much, im not sure, but just look at the ones you have (take a picture) and head to the junkyard and find the same one, if not, get one with the possibility of modifying it, i got lucky as i can grind metal off, but not attach metal to it on mine.

theres a good example on my 79 wagon and my 80 brat not being the same seatbelts at all! completely different shape, quite interesting as they are the same color strap, same clicker, same engine, but just the mechanism inside changes.

Thanks for the info, but as mine is the retractor part isn't locking, I need a whole new/used assembly. I understand the legacy's are the auto belts. What about the early outbacks?

Try squrting yours with oil like wd40 it probably is just stuck ive fixed alot of them that way pull it all the way out so the oil gets to the base of the mechanism you dont even need to unbolt them i know i have some in storage somewere i just cant remeber what storage site it would be in

Sorry for the late reply, life got in the way.

I've tried oiling them a few times, but all that did was fix the retracting, the locking still doesn't work.

Check the link out. I was thinking of changing my auto-retracting belts on my Loyale. Their pricing seems resonable
