4 wheel dunebuggy from old gl parts?

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if anyone here has ever heard of somebody dropping the front suspension with motor and tranny and the complete rear suspension and welding up a lightweight tube frame for it to make their own 4 wheel drive buggy. The power to weight should be amazing and I would think this would be a fairly simple build. I wish I had a runner I could chop up, but all I have are dead ones and my daily driver. Which I anit cuttin it up, love that car:)

Here is a loose idea of what I have in mind. I would put 15" 6 lug wheels on it with some big monster mudder tires for extra ground clearance.

Oh man that's cute as hell. LOL Now I really want to do it. How much did you shrink the wheel base? What donner car did you use? I want to do an ea82 efi motor with a dual range tranny

Ok, Scott aside... 'Cause he likes to do weird stuff like put the engine in the passenger seat, weld up the trans diff and use the trans axle outputs for drivelines to the front and rear diff... Who cares if you can only go 25MPH! Sorry Scott, just had to give you some ribbing. lol I love the crazy stuff you do! Yes, if you have fabbing skills, or know someone with fabbing skills and is willing to jump onboard, it really is fairly simple. Build a frame, mount engine & tranny, modify wiring harness, etc, etc etc.... That's if you have the skills and time. We should all thank the powers that be that Scott has too much time on his hands and some skills or we wouldn't have lift kits or see some really weird rearrangement or re-purposing of Subaru components that result in unique and bizarre vehicles. Props to Scott!
