I knew I threw one of these out with its PT 4WD 3 speed auto

 

Now realised I have tossed another Vortex turbo FWD !

 

At that stage did not want fwd and only wanted the casings for a single range awd box 

Having now driven fwd for some time now know I tossed a rare thing. Good highway diff

Subaru never used a 3.454 diff

They use 3.545 in the SVX and some newer models

 

pretty sure  a PT4WD 3AT would use a 3.70

Once had an 85 XT turbo FWD that had the 3.54 differential. 

In the ea82 cars per the service manual both the 3at and the 4eat used behind turbo engines had 3.454 front diffs. All others used 3.70 or 3.90 diffs. I made the mistake of using a turbo 3at in a nonturbo car and it almost killed me when I put it in 4wd on the snow.

Me? A typo? Maybe? Numbchux you had me doubting self. Wrap this around your grey matter ...my 85 GLTA had the ~ 3.5:1 up front in the auto 3 4WD and 3.7:1 in the arse end !!
