Im new to te forum.

I have a 1999 Subaru Legacy.

I think she needs an engine transplant.

Obvious rod knock.

Bugger about the rod knock. Insure you'll find some answers here as to options to get this sorted ;)

Verify diagnosis first.

Is it piston slap - gets a little less loud as the engine warms up?

Timing tensioner or exhaust leaks get blamed for rod knock. 

If it’s an EJ25D then EJ22 swap it.
