Knock Sensor Problem

Featured Replies

The the knock sensor wire got pulled off the female knock sensor plug that's coming from the intake manifold wiring. Stuck the wire back in the plug and now have cel light on dash. Looking for a way to turn off the cel light.

remove neg battery cable, touch that cable end to the pos battery terminal. reconnect. That should clear the cel - it's possible you first coupla engine starts are odd after doing that until the monitors complete.

be very careful around the battery - keep metal tools away from the terminals when you're not using them.

if the CEL doesn't clear or comes back, swing by a parts store and have them read the code(s)

if you have a smartphone, an inexpensive ELM327 BT adapter and an app like Torque Lite will let you read and clear codes and more.

What year and engine are we talking about here?    I just looked at my part stash, and  the knock sensor plug from  2000 2.5 from the intake is a male and the knock plug  sensor connection is female.

Where did wire pull out?  Was it out of knock sensor or the female plug in the wiring harness to the intake?  If the wire connection plug of either is bad, you may need to repair or replace it or the CEL will come back again and again.
