January 2, 20206 yr My 91 Loyale won't start. I bought the cat for 200$ in non-working condition. I figured it wouldn't start due to a timing belt or minor electrical issue, but it's much deeper. The previous owner described that it lost power on the interstate and hasn't worked since then. The oil pump failed and destroyed the original block, I have since rebuilt and old ea82 and clutch in the car. All grounds are cleaned and battery is new. I have no spark at the ignition coil or to any of the plugs. Timing is perfect and spot on. All fusable links are good, fuse 5,11,12 are all good and have power. Fuel pump primes, but I cannot get the ecm to blink lights no matter what. I cut the janky aftermarket stereo out. I think the clutch safety switch is pulled and the wires are soldered together, there's also a random ground wire and yellow/green wire cut under the dash. I am at a complete loss to what the problem is and have been at it for 6 months
January 2, 20206 yr The code led is up under the steering column. You have to remove the plastic kick panel to see the hole in the ecu where it hides.

Yes I removed the panel and found some loose connections to the ecm, it's blinking 31 and 34/35? I can't really tell I haven't had any experience reading the codes so far
January 3, 20206 yr Long blinks are the 10s short are the 1s. Those sound like normal codes. Have to look them up to see what they are. Normal as in real, may or may not be why it won't start. Iirc, 34 is the egr solenoid, that won't keep it from starting. Edited January 3, 20206 yr by DaveT

Okay well I'm not getting 10s flashes. 3 longer flashes then one short, then 3 long and I believe 4 short.
January 3, 20206 yr Author I found probably 6 cut cords under the panel. One yellow/green cord that's spliced into but goes nowhere, a black cord further back that's exposed and cut. A pair of cut cords that are black and green/yellow (thicker gauge) Then a pair of green/yellow and black wires that's a spliced together. and no connector in the neutral safety switch?? (Plug on top of clutch)
January 3, 20206 yr 3 long then 1 short is 31. 3 long then 4 short is 34. It lists multiple codes sequentially.
