January 20, 20206 yr Yesterday morning, I installed a replacement reverse light switch from Napa. The car is a 1991 Subaru Loyale, with a 5 speed dual range swapped in. I drove about 15 miles, got to the store to get some supplies and all the trans would only shift into 5th gear! No 1-4 and reverse. Backed the switch out about 5 turns and my shifting returned. I do not see anything mechanically wrong with the switch, or different from the OEM one I removed from the transmission. Has anyone else run into this issue?

April 3, 20205 yr Author Turns out the switch was actually the wrong one, just a little too long. Got another one from Napa and fixed the problem.
