removing fan clutch?

Featured Replies

I removed the four small nuts but the fan clutch still seams like it is on there pretty tight. Do I need a puller to remove it. Thanks

wiggle it from side to side, it fits onto a shaft that prodrudes theru the pulley. use a long bar and a hammer to tap on the shaft and bust it free. (put a cardboard between the radiator if its not out)

I may have screwed up, what do you think? I removed the fan clutch and now the water pump is leaking. Did I do this? I removed the fan clutch by tapping on the shaft, back and forth with a wood block. I installed small 6mm bolts to hold the pully on. checked everything and now I have water dripping from behind one of the timing belt covers right under the waterpump. any ideas

You may have loosened the pipe to the WP. All it has to seal it is a O-ring. Its held on by a bracket on the head I believe, so remove the bolt and hose clamp at radiator. Then pull the pipe out and use a small amount of sealer and see if the parts store can get you another O-ring. If this doesnt do the trick, you need to remove the T-belt cover and see if the water is coming from the weep hole on the WP. If so, it means you need a new WP.

Ya might as well install a new WP while you are in there. :) Saves you trouble down the road..
