Hey guys, so I just replaced all my instrument cluster bulbs with leds, and now the check engine light, oil light, and abs light no longer illuminate when turning the key. And help would be greatly appreciated. I figure I just need to get another cluster, but I wanted to ask the pros first. 

my first guess is, they may be reversed. Diodes are polarized.

 

and, not really sure they can be used in alt. field excite circuit???? (hope someone smarter will respond)

Thanks for the input. I did have a few led’s that didn’t work, and flipping them 180 took care of that. But I never could get the engine light to illuminate. Honestly I don’t even remember where the light is on the cluster. It’s not down in the bottom row with most the other lights. I want to say it’s right under the tach. Hopefully someone can verify that.

Doh! It’s a 97 legacy outback with a 2.2, auto trans. 

Looking at the front, the Check Engine light is under the Tach just to the left of Oil Pressure that is under the center of the Tach. You're right, it is not in the bottom row.
