08 Outback, windshield washer

Featured Replies

Have a problem with windshield problem. I have good flow of washer fluid, but squirts at the bottom of the windshield glass. I can't figure out how to adjust, so quirts much higher. Any advise? Thanks

just looked at mine.

there are nozzles on driver and passenger side... correct? are both mis-aimed?

dirt occluding the nozzle?

the little 'orifices' are usually adjustable. Sometimes a sewing needle is all that's necessay. Some designs may need something special, probably available foe a couplabucks at the parts store.

In the 08 the nozzle mechanism rides and pivots in a "sling" mounted beneath the hood. I think the needle technique applies to the type mounted on the hood.

If it's just one side, open the hood and make sure there isn't any leaf or other debris lodged in the mechanism keeping it from rotating freely.

I have tried the needle inserted inside the sprayer unit to clean it out. Then with needle inserted, I pulled up on the needle to adjust upward the spray, but nothing changed. What am I missing to do???

Mounted under the hood. There seems to be some sprayer movement. Thinking of taping it up in the most upper position, though don't know it this is going to help.

no dirt impeding the movement within the "cradle" holding the sprayer?

I'm assuming it is just one side that is wonky?
Compare the mechanisms and movement within the cradle to the other side.

Did it pop out of the hinged position or is the hinge broken?

This ain't rocket surgery ;-)

Discovered the source of the problem. Washer hose was split, so leaking fluid, so not much fluid reached the windshield. Replaced the hose, and all is well.
