vodoobrat Posted August 10, 2004 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Here's my problem. I have a 83 brat 4x4 with 3 spd auto tranny. It wants to stay in 2nd and not wanting to shift into drive. But when the car warms up or is driven a little bit. The shifting problem goes away. What is my problem? Do I need to rebuild it or just change filter in tranny? Any help would be greats. Turbone Posted August 10, 2004 Share Posted August 10, 2004 Its most likely the Governor. Its on the right side (passenger) of the tranny and looks like a big cup. Remove the 3 bolts and pull out the gear. Cleaning sometimes works, but most times a replacement will have to be made. Go to your local wrecking yard and look for any Soob from 82-92 that has a 3spd AT in it. They should work, altho I would try and get one from a later model.
