How offten do U adjust the valves on a solid lifter EA81?

And what do U set them too?

I adjust them when the valve cover gaskets need replacing

 

follow instruncions underhood for "gap"

 

start at 1, tdc comp, then 2, 180* apart , then 3 should be back to the 0* mark, then 4, 180* apart

 

there is a mark at 180* on the flywheel, and a notch or a hole in the crankshaft pulley at 0* and 180*

could some one enlighten me a little more on this process? I have a solid lifter and it sound like a typewriter badddd..
