'85 Hatch leaking gas from tank...

Featured Replies

Yeah, the $100 Hatch revealed another problem to us tonight after we went and filled it up for the first time. Came back out to the garage a while later and saw a pretty big puddle. Drove it out for groceries and still saw about a 5" spot under it in the parking lot when we came back. It's still dark so I can't get a look at it but what's the general prognosis on these? Is it possible it's just the filler neck or do we need a whole new tank?

We're pretty green on the day-to-day problems of the Subaru.

more likely is the RUBBER tube rotted, a hose quit, or you have a hole

does it leak when it is below full? where does it quit leaking

My 90 Loyale rusted through at these little fuel dampers just outside the tank. They look like miniature "Mallowmars" about the size of a stack of 4 quarters. Anyway, look for something simple before you fret the worst case scenario.
