Alternator bearings

Featured Replies

Ok, on my BRAT I have the XT6 engine with the stock XT6 alternator. It's bearings are going bad and I am having a devil of a time finding these bearings. I think it is silly to spend $140 on an alternator for $4 worth of bearings.

Anyone have any sources?

If you have it apart enough to read the manufacturer and part number on the side of the bearing, you could do a google search for the manufacturer and get a local distributor from them. Also, once you have the number, the yellow pages are full of bearing distributors and they should be able to help you.

That's the part I was trying to skip

I was hoping I could order them and have them on hand for when I get time.

Sorry, I can't help you there. If I had an XT6 alternator in pieces, I'd look up the parts for you, but.....

I would just get it rebuilt.http://www.mralternator.com & tell him " The Mailman" sent you.UPS it to him & he quickly gets it back to you. If bearings are worn out, other parts are too, or are nearly worn out. Bearings can be next to impossible, sometimes, to get off.
