October 28, 200421 yr Ok, on my BRAT I have the XT6 engine with the stock XT6 alternator. It's bearings are going bad and I am having a devil of a time finding these bearings. I think it is silly to spend $140 on an alternator for $4 worth of bearings. Anyone have any sources?
October 29, 200421 yr If you have it apart enough to read the manufacturer and part number on the side of the bearing, you could do a google search for the manufacturer and get a local distributor from them. Also, once you have the number, the yellow pages are full of bearing distributors and they should be able to help you. Ok, on my BRAT I have the XT6 engine with the stock XT6 alternator. October 29, 200421 yr Author That's the part I was trying to skip I was hoping I could order them and have them on hand for when I get time.
October 29, 200421 yr Sorry, I can't help you there. If I had an XT6 alternator in pieces, I'd look up the parts for you, but..... That's the part I was trying to skip I was hoping I could order them and have them on hand for when I get time.
October 29, 200421 yr I would just get it rebuilt.http://www.mralternator.com & tell him " The Mailman" sent you.UPS it to him & he quickly gets it back to you. If bearings are worn out, other parts are too, or are nearly worn out. Bearings can be next to impossible, sometimes, to get off.
