any ideas about my hi-beam switch?

Featured Replies

the hi-beam switch is in neutral position, but both filaments on the bulbs are lit, hi and lo at the same time. and when that happens, it tries to burn the fusable link for the lights. any one know of a fix for this or happen to have an extra 86 hi beam switch? i really want to get this car on the road this week if at all possible.

thanks

tim c.

Ever get the wheel pulled off?

It sounds like the switch is bad.

If you rent or borrow a puller, keep it long enough to yank the wheel off of the donor car at the junkyard.

well, i think that i found a benefit to going to lti. i managed to fix the switch last night, tested it tonight, works great.

how complicated is it changing out the dimmer switch? Mine is doing the same thing. High and Low beams on Low setting and then highs on at the high setting.

i used to have a bit of a switch problem as well, First year & a half the high beams wouldn't work, i hit hi and the headlights would go out completly, Tryed several times to get it fixed and gave up every time.

In the process of wiring my KC daylighters i ran a wire from my battery thrue the firewall beind my fuse box and then up to my console to the switch.

Not sure what i touched or did but after i tesded my kc's my high beams have worked ever since.

Wish i knew what it did.
