Removing windscreen?

Featured Replies

Anyone ever removed a windscreen from a 80-84 body?? Without breaking it?

It was an '86 BRAT, but I managed to get the windshield out in one piece. I used a razor knife to cut away as much of the rubber seal as possible. That sticky Black goop that's in the glass area is/was a joy to convince to let go of the glass though.

Tried same method on the '82 BRAT, but wasn't as careful I guess. It was cracked, so I wanted to change it. By the time I had it out, it was totally Fubar....

I've taken out dozens, but none with the intent of attempting to get them out unbroken. I don't know what your time is worth, but it's cheaper for me to buy a new shield than spend the 4 or more hours to get one out in one piece and then clean it up enough to reinstall it without breaking.

cut the gasket as already mentioned. you will then need a new gasket, seems like they are roun $40 US.
