busdriver
Hi folks Could someone give me the front axle nut torque spec's and the proper torqueing method for my 87 gl10t. I did a search and came up with nothing. Greatly appreciated.
XSNRG
With the car jacked up, make sure the axle is fully seated in the bearings, place the rotor on, cone washer, washer, nut. Tighten the big nut to 145#, if you can't get 145# in the air, lower the car for the last few pounds but make sure everything is properly seated first. If the cotter pin does not line up, tighten the nut a bit more until it does.
Snowman
I find that it works to just stand on a 1/2" ratchet. Never had any trouble with that method. (Disclaimer: But don't blame me if this screws something up)
