August 16, 200322 yr When I go from The EA82T in my car to the EA81 will the EA81's fuel pump pull through the pump in the tank, or will I need to swap to a carbed fule pick up?
August 16, 200322 yr If you are going to do the swap, please, please ,please don't waste a turbo car on it.. find yourself an SPFI car or carb car with a bad motor. unless your car is thrashed, it just wouldn't be right to kill a turbo car for this, when there are so many more nonturbo cars out there just waiting to go to junkyards because of something stupid like a blown headgasket or something
August 17, 200322 yr Author My turbo car is ANYTHING but prime:( And it's all I got for a 4x4, and I just don't care for the complexity of EFI&Turbo W/water&oil cooling all on one engine, not to mention that it leaks oil like a sive, and springs a new water leak every month:banghead: And I am sick to deth of chasing FI problems all the time, I miss my carbs. I know that they don't work as well off road, but they do work. I thought that the pump was in the tank, is the one on the under-side of the car the only one? If so then I have NO PROBLEMS:D
August 18, 200322 yr Hey Tony, the pump isn't in the tank. It's jes the one on the little bracket underneith. SPFI is a pretty good, but the problem is that his in an 85 (or is it an 86)? either way, it's a MAF system, and doesn't have the optical dizzy in it. The computer in the older EA82's is closer to the EA81T (in fact I think it has the same part number from Subaru).
August 18, 200322 yr the hose diameter will be larger than the fitting on the carby fuel pump. it will hold tight if you get a good clamp on there tohugh, i have done it like that on a turbo wagon to carb, and an spfi to carb, had no problems either way.
August 18, 200322 yr what are you doing with the old motor? i could use the heads cant you use the efi pump and just put a regulator on it, ant the carb? 2-3 lbs is stock for carb, right?
