archemitis
i think in 86 you must have the flapper style maf sensor right? and theres a vaccum line going to the disty...its basicaly a carb disty. the 88s are totaly different(optical) and wont work. you woudl have better luck runing a carbureted ea82 disty. but the advance would be different. Petersubaru
I would love to use a carbed disy if it is possible...Have you any feedback as to why the 86 disy has 4 wires coming out of the ignitor (2 wires to the coil and the other 2 wires to somewhere else???) as compared to carb disy which has only 2 wires running to the coil ... i think in 86 you must have the flapper style maf sensor right? and theres a vaccum line going to the disty...its basicaly a carb disty. the 88s are totaly different(optical) and wont work. you woudl have better luck runing a carbureted ea82 disty. but the advance would be different. GLCraig
You really need a 85 - 86 turbo distributor. The other 2 wires you refer to hook up to the knock control system.
edrach
You can have your current distributor rebuilt by http://www.philbingroup.com/rebuilt/distributors.htm if you can spare it for a few days...or they may have a rebuilt unit in stock for you.
