December 29, 200421 yr I have noticed that for the first few minutes of driving my car dosent have the normal power it has at WOT. is this cos of the choke? can i adjust it so it unchokes earlier, (i live in a hot climate) Thanks
December 29, 200421 yr For the first few minutes of operation, the engine likes a richer a/f ratio. Power levels are expected to be lower. You CAN adjust the choke, but full throttle while the engine is cold isn't recommended either way, so my advice is to let it warm up some with the choke at the current setting, THEN rag on it.
December 29, 200421 yr yes, i agree with snotrocket. no need to have full power potential untill your car is up to operating temp. and thats even a few minutes after the choke opens up all the way.

December 30, 200421 yr the thought of some fool starting his car and redlining the damn thing makes me want to commit a capital offence, just wait for the damn thing to come up to operating temp. its an aluminum block and heads car for crying out loud.
December 30, 200421 yr if you realy want a race car, pull the choke shaft out all the way, and use the accelerator pump to enrichen it on start up. =] then the plate and shaft arent in the way.
