Fair price for snow tires....

Featured Replies

Hi all, just trying to get an idea of what to offer a set of tires to a buddy for.

With an 87 gl I bought came a set of snow tires, with studs on rims. Tires have 95-99% tread left, studs are a little more than a little worn.

I don't know the exact brand or size or anything like that, just looking for a rough ball park. He wants them, I have them, how much do you think I should offer them for??

You can buy a brand new set at Costco for under 2 bills. If he's a buddy and you can get some payback in the future, you might just want to give them to him for a bail-out or parts in the future. Build some karma. If not, hit him up for 125.00

Snows are harder to come by used, and are worth more than regular used tires. If they happen to be hi performance radial snows (look at ratings printed on the sidewall), they are even more desireable.

I would find out what they cost new, and since they have so much tread left, maybe knock 30-40% off the "new" price. If they are mounted and balanced on Sube rims, and are going on a Sube, they would be worth a little more.

good luck, John
