December 30, 200421 yr Hey, fellas and gals: Got a question. I bought a can of Seafoam to run thru my intake and clean it out (we used to do the same on old VWs with diesel of ATF) On this forum, everyone says change the oil immediately after using Seafoam. Yet the can doesn't say this-it says Seafoam is OK to use in fuel, oil, or directly thru manifold. No big deal to change the oil, but if it's going thru the injectors or manifold, why does the oil need to be changed? Bradford

I was advised by a mechanic to put that stuff in when you change the oil. Seafoam is an automotive mystery.
December 31, 200421 yr There are some (like myself) that believe that the crankcase should just contain engine oil, and if the oil is changed often enough, then no cleaners or other additives will ever NEED to be added. That's all. P.S. Seafoam kicks rump roast.
December 31, 200421 yr Seafoam is awsome stuff, it's even more of a mystery than the Marval Mystery Oil. I'm going to dump some in a few hundered miles before I change my oil next, but I hope it doesn't offset the benifits that running Mobil 1 for the last 8,000 miles will bring me... I am also planning on running the Seafoam transmission flush before I service my transmission...

February 12, 200521 yr Where can you order Seafoam from? I went to a parts store and asked if they had any. This guys looks at me like I had two heads. Is there a place on the net I can order it or a place I can call?
February 12, 200521 yr http://www.seafoamsales.com/ Click the buy button on their site it lists all their major parts store carriers.
February 13, 200521 yr Because of these posts, I decided to try a little seafoam myself. I put it into the PCV valve area, used about 1/3 of a bottle. Put the rest in the gas tank. It seems to have worked well, I have better, smoother acceleration and a bit more power, kind of like going back in time to when I first bought her. I was kind of surprised that there was any effect, but I guess now I believe. I bought seafoam at Advance Auto Parts for about $3.50 matt
February 13, 200521 yr when reading the details of the seafoam on their website, it lists point after point of what it cleans. http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm i think i might give it a try, after all its only 4 bucks??
February 13, 200521 yr Does Seafoam do the same thing as the Top Engine Cleaner sold at GM dealer parts counters? Either on the bottle or elsewhere I read that spark plugs should be replaced after using Top Engine Cleaner, as the crud washed out gets on the plugs. Huge clouds of smoke come out of the tailpipe when started, I parked away from home so as not to smoke out the neighbors. Hopefully the emissions isnt bad for a weak catalytic converter.
