August 22, 200322 yr Can any one recommend a good, honest mechanic in the Spokane area to do a head gasket replacement for a 98 Forester? Thanks in advance. Willy from the far North
August 22, 200322 yr I might not be the best one on this, haven't lived in Spokane for almost 6 years now, but I found through friends and family that most of the mechanics that work at an Apple dealer (on car row a.k.a. East Sprague ) seem to be pretty good. Andy might have a better idea. Just trying to help
August 22, 200322 yr Author Trying to find "apple" car repair in Spokane with no luck. Is that the name of the auto repair shop? Is it called "appleway chevrolet"? Thanks for your help . Willy
August 22, 200322 yr Yup, that's it... appleway. Sorry, told you it has been a while, there also should be an appleway Mazda / Subaru too :-p http://www.applewaytoyota.com/dealers/appleway/
August 22, 200322 yr hi.. i unfortunately wouldn't know where best to send you for this.. I would recommend the Appleway dealership group over Camp (both sell/service subarus too) as it seems to be friendlier and better run; parts ordered come in faster, also, camp chevrolet don't tip when they order pizza from us but none of that is more than my gut feeling. good luck though!
August 23, 200322 yr Many years ago, I lost a water pump on my '86 GL wagon just outside of Ritzville. I got towed to Spokane and on the suggestion of my regular shop in Lynnwood, had it taken to C&H Auto Repair, E. 620 North Foothills Dr., Spokane (509-487-9683). They were excellent. Arranged a rent a car for me (I was on the way to Missoula on business), repaired the car and had it ready for me on my return trip 3 days later. They even washed the car for me before letting me have it (no charge for the car wash). This car now has 100K miles since that repair and the water pump is still fine. The service was excellent and I'd reccomend them to anyone.
August 23, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the replys. I am located in BC and bought a car on Ebay that is in Boston. It is being trucked to Spokane where I will pick it up. It may(probably) has head gasket problems so I am looking at the cost of getting it fixed here and towing it home or fixed in Spokane and driving it. I will call C&H on Monday morning. Thanks again for your help.
August 24, 200322 yr Well if you can't find in Spokane, would you think of having it dropped off in Portland OR? It is a little farther but my father is a Subaru Master Tech with 23 years experience. He does about 1 headgasket job on the 2.5 liter motors a month. We have a small start up shop and our prices are very reasonable. Can supply references from fellow USMB members and other customers. Just a thought.
