January 22, 200521 yr Does anyone happen to know if the earlier oil filler will fit on a later engine? I was at the junk yard the other day and there was a nice aluminum oil filler on an '89 1.8L and I was wondering if it would fit on my '99 Forester 2.5L.

I would rather have a Fram attached to my engine.
January 22, 200521 yr The whole pipe or just the screw cap? I am fairly sure the cap will fit straight over. If you do get the entire pipe, make sure you replace the o-ring seal on it.

The cap is actually different. Mine has a plastic screw on cap and the earlier one is a twist lock cap made of steel. I was going to replace the whole thing. If it is still there next trip to the yard, I'll grab it and try.
January 22, 200521 yr Don't waste your time going back to the yard. The EA82 oil filler neck tube won't fit your car. It doesn't even bolt up the same. Emily http://www.ccrengines.com
January 22, 200521 yr Is there a gasket between the filler neck and the block? Anyone have the part number for a 95 2.2L Impreza?
January 22, 200521 yr Is there a gasket between the filler neck and the block? Anyone have the part number for a 95 2.2L Impreza? On my 96 2.2L, if I remember well, the filler tube goes to the left (driver side) cam cover. Part of it (shorter part) is integral with the cover and the rest of the tube fits through a flange with a gasket and two bolts.
January 22, 200521 yr There is an o-ring on the pipe, no plan gasket between filler and rocker cover.
January 23, 200521 yr There is an o-ring on the pipe, no plan gasket between filler and rocker cover. Right! Thanks for the correction.
January 23, 200521 yr Um no. Don't do it. I would rather have a Fram attached to my engine. Filler, not filter There is no possible way the EA oil filler will bolt up to an EJ. Not only is the bolt pattern wrong, but it's kinked in the wrong direction since it is on the other side of the engine. It will hit the A/C lines on your car.
January 24, 200521 yr Author Are there any other options out there for a different filler tube for my EJ25?
