Alternators

Featured Replies

What is the most powerful alternator I can bolt into my 91loyale wagon?

I'm currently running the stock set up and I need more power to run my cb as 1000 watts isn't enough for me. I have 2 extra batterys hooked up in the back of the car and they help a little but I need more amperage. Has any one ever hooked up duel alts in a subaru befor? Any info would be gladly appreciated. :drunk:

Dual alternators are doable if you sacrifice your A/C certain chevy alternators fit up to about 100 watt but they require mod. Most popular route is an xt6 alt which puts out 90A.

yeah, I never have used the ac, but that was in colorado. I haven't spent a sunner in north carolina yet! I am willing to scrap the ac if I need a second alt.

I'll look into the gm alternator. the set up I'm going for for the cb is going to hopefully put out 2000-3000watts of power when i key the mic up, and i am planing on adding two mor batterys in the back, so I,m looking for the most amperage I can possibly get out of an alt. :drunk:

if you can find a subaru alternator with an orange band that will be a a 60 amp, the green ones are 30. sometimes you will find non-xt6 black ones, but some remans are painted black

Got a 60 amp in there now. my volt meter drops to about9-10 when i key up even at 4500rpm

wow I just also oticed I'm a usmb reguler and not a new user any more!

Mudduck,

Have you considered the hazard of exposing yourself to that much RF energy so close? Not to mention the legality of this setup.

hi

i put 90A last mounth...it's working great, also this 90A is made spechily for brut that makes patrols ...so....it made for low idle charge, even if i just start the car without moving it, it still charge the battery.

moshe.

Do a search for GM alternators. Somebody found one a while back that bolts right up after you file one of the mounting tabs a little bit which produces at least 90 or 100 amps. He found it online for less than $100.

I'm not going to be running that kind of power all the time, just for the occational times when I need all of that and for "keydown" competitions. As far as leagality on 11 meters, no coment :D

I think I might see what gm has to offer. I might see what Leece Nevile has as far as an alt. that might fit also. I really don,t want to get to costom on the brackets, but, if it comes down to it I'll do what I got to do!
