February 27, 200521 yr hi, everyone .. what is "apple coring" on a governor in the 3 AT subaru.. I took mine out, and don't know what to look for to wether it is in good shape or not.. also, my local ADVANCED AUTO PARTS does not list a new one.. is it a dealer part....? thank you fgug
February 27, 200521 yr from what i have heard the gear should start out almost like a sphere with the clogs cut out but then the other gear wears into it and make its into and apple core shape.
February 27, 200521 yr Author from what i have heard the gear should start out almost like a sphere with the clogs cut out but then the other gear wears into it and make its into and apple core shape. there IS a bit of wear on the gear. is this indicative of renewal time? thanks Brumby
February 27, 200521 yr When viewed from the side, the gear should be cylindrical. "Apple coring" refers to the center of the gear being worn down, making that cylindrical shape be bowed in in the middle... get what I mean? The gear ends up being wide on the top and bottom and narrow in the middle, just like an apple core.
